« When two rivers meet, they come as one, and by fusion our cultures become indistinct, they overlap and fit to form only one single block, of humanity. » - Gael Faye This quote best translates what I think about MUN. It is also the reason why I wanted to become the secretary general and organize my very first MUN. I am Mehdi Rais and I am a senior at André Malraux International High School. I have the privilege to lead this conference and feel honoured to share this management with all the presidency. My interest in geopolitical issues and debating has led me to attend numerous MUN conferences. Throughout last years, I participated in several MUNs as a delegate and Main Chair. I had the chance to travel to Madrid where I won one of my Best Delegate awards. I also lived an unforgettable experience with my friends and I think that's what actually matters. MUN has become, since then, a big passion of mine. Of course, MUNs are intellectually challenging, rewarding and entertaining experiences that we will never forget and obviously, some of our greatest memories are from these events but when coming to reflect on the topic of our own MUN conference, we commonly agreed on one thing: we wanted to do something new. We didn’t want to debate the same topics that we had already found solutions to in previous conferences, nor use past template resolutions that we had already commonly agreed on with other delegates. We wanted to be free to design, create, organize every single detail, devoting our hearts and souls to an innovative and brand new concept that we have never had the opportunity to see fully developed: an Anticipatory MUN. I truly wish this new journey will be memorable for you. Best of luck !
